St. Paul Cathedral Parish Vilija Dinner - Sunday, December 14, 2025

Join us for a traditional Slovak Christmas Eve dinner celebration at the St. Rosalia Social Hall. Christmas is a time for remembrance—for recalling the joys and blessings of the year, as well as for treasuring memories of Christmases past. The most treasured memories are customs and traditions of our parents, grandparents, and even great-grandparents of Slovakia. Many of these customs have been handed down from generation to generation and now are the links that bind us to the past as well as to the future. You will experience many of the traditions of a people of simple country faith and cherished customs of our Slovak ancestors. We will break the oplatky wafer, have a traditional mushroom soup, baked cod, pirohy, and bobalky. The Pittsburgh Slovakians will present their Christmas pageant - Jasličkare - which tells the story of the shepherds bringing their gifts to the Christ child.
